Psalm 25:12 Who, then, is the man that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.
Our adventure continues! One week ago today I received a special and timely phone call. It was from a missionary friend in need of our help – and as it turns out, we were in need of his! He and his wife are headed to Asia for the next 4+ months to continue their work there and need someone to house sit for them. What a timely request as we were in need of finding another place to live while we continue my job search.
We have been staying with our oldest son John and his family here in the Akron area since I was laid off by Williamson Christian College in Franklin, TN the end of October. John and his family returned from 8 years in Brazil this past July and were provided with a wonderful house to live in by another missionary couple that is in Panama.
Fortunately, in our situation this past fall, there was room for us to stay with them. We had been apart from our children and grandchildren for years and we missed them dearly. Our options in October were very limited and God’s timing of John’s return and the generosity of the missionary family with their large house was amazing. Although we have a house in Colorado Springs, it is rented by dear friends and the desire of our hearts was to be with family, if only for a season.
God used our circumstances that appeared to be negative, to bring about a blessing that was important – not just to us but to our family as well. This made moving back to NE Ohio all the more special because 3 of our 4 sons and their families are here. It is so wonderful to be a part of their lives – to see them, be near them, to love on them and be there for them. It is like having treasure and getting to use it. Fortunately the location of our ‘house sitting’ is here in Akron, closer to our other two sons. My job hunt has been a struggle for me. I want to have significance in the job that I do, but I must provide for us.
Two weeks ago, the Lord intervened not only to encourage me, as I noted in my devotional but the events of that week led to us to embrace a reality and confront a very important question. The reality is my desire to work for a Christian organization. The question was, “Are we willing to relocate away from family even to moving overseas should the opportunity require it?” The answer is yes – we are willing to move wherever the Lord would have us go. Possibly the Lord has such a position here near family.
Please pray for us that we will follow Jesus wherever He leads us. Although we are committed to being here for the next 5 months the Lord knows where our path leads next. Thank you for your prayers
I will be praying!!!! Always!
