Tuesday February 23, 2016 – The Movie “Risen”

MUST SEE!!! Monday morning Donna and I went to see the movie Risen.  We had read about it and expected a good movie – BUT it was far beyond our expectations.  It is one of the best movies we have ever seen.

It takes a very different approach to our Lord’s death and resurrection, one we’ve never before seen addressed in film.  The story is told of a Roman Tribune who witnessed the crucifixion, over saw the burial and who is then ordered by Pontius Pilate to find the missing body of Yeshua.  Finding the body will prove that this crucified man is still dead and his resurrection is just a myth.

We journey with him in his search – and it is a sincere and honest search by this Roman. What really happened at the tomb with the Roman guards he, the Tribune had placed there? How would he have gone about finding the body and the disciples? Who would he believe? Some of the scenes are very unexpected and very powerful.  We found ourselves in tears repeatedly.

Thank God for such a wonderful movie!  This man was not a Jew nor a believer – he was a pagan – a Roman, and this movie describes his search for what really happened.  In this skeptical age it will resonate with truth-seekers.
