Hebrews 1:3  The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Today I get to share with you a marvelous prayer that has really blessed me.  I first encountered it in a Confirmation Service at St Luke’s.  John Wesley, founder of Methodism, is the author and this prayer is still a vibrant part of the church that was influenced by his ministry.

John Wesley used this prayer with all of his ministers to signify their commitment to the task of ministry.  It was also used by the English Methodist churches in a service at the start of each year for “Renewing our Covenant with God”.

This prayer requires a genuine humility to pray it sincerely.  Let our hearts to be convicted if we are lacking in that regard.  It recognizes the reality of God’s claim on our lives and the attitudes our faith in Jesus Christ require of us.  Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being.  May we recommit ourselves to our covenant keeping God.  I pray that this prayer will be a blessing to you as it has been to me.

Wesley Covenant Prayer                                                                                                              I am no longer my own, but yours.                                                                                                  Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;                                                              put me to doing, put me to suffering.                                                                                             Let me be employed by you or laid aside by you,                                                                    enabled for you or brought low by you.                                                                                          Let me be full, let me be empty.                                                                                                       Let me have all things, let me have nothing.                                                                                     I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal.                                        And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,                                     you are mine, and I am yours.
